World Book Day 2024 Event: For teachers & educators
Red Lion Books, 6pm

£10.00

We are hosting an event for Grown-ups! For teachers and educators, on Monday, 4th March at 6pm

To ensure we have a well supported evening we are ticketing the event @ £10 which will be redeemable against book purchases on the night .  There will be a 20% discount on most books throughout the evening.

It is aimed at teachers and educations, providing a fun and informative event at Red Lion Books after-hours. There will be a welcome drink, a  shopping discount (on all books, not only those for children).  4 wonderful authors will be helping us host the event and you will have the opportunity to talk with them, informally, about their work. We also have our wonderful guest speaker, Jane Walker.

It will be a good opportunity for you to make a ‘wish list’ which can be shared with your school parent associations and/or ex pupils.

Oh, and a goodie bag

Jane Walker, our guest speaker is the Sales and Marketing Director of Barrington Stoke. Their award-winning mission is to publish super readable, accessible, dyslexia-friendly books written by the very best authors, for children who struggle to engage with books. Jane will be talking about how Barrington Stoke remove the barriers to reading.

Polly Crosby is an award-winning author whose latest book, This Tale is Forbidden, is described as The Handmaid’s tale meets the Brothers Grimm – a dystopian feminist fairy tale for older children (12+)

Tom Knight is a wonderful illustrator from our very own Mersea island! He has worked for a diverse range of publishers from Little Tiger to Macmillan and he has also authored his own titles, The Good Knight, Bad Knight books and Jimmy Finnigan’s Wild Wood Band.

Catherine Emmett  is an award-winning children’s picture book author who has worked with Macmillan, Simon & Schuster and OUP to create funny, engaging, sometimes anarchic stories. We love them!

James Campbell  decided to be a writer when he was seven, once he had decided that he could not be a duck. James travels around primary schools telling stories and encouraging children to write their own stuff. He lives in an off-grid farm in a field between Colchester and Ipswich and is passionate about demystifying the importance of saving the planet for children – while making them laugh too!
