Chidren's History of Colchester
Just arrived from the publishers, Andrew Phillips' history book for children is lively, fun and exciting as well being packed with loads of interesting facts about Colchester over the years. Come into the shop and take our 'History Challenge'. If you are under 12, answer the six questions of our quiz and the first five correct answers returned will win a prize.
This is our friend Horrid Henry when he visited the shop recently. This picture is of Henry showing off outside the shop. And when he wasn't showing off he was really being rather horrid to the people passing by. We have a large childrens section here and always welcome children to the shop. You can come and play on our boat (or is it a train or a plane?). Or play with our much loved Percy Pig, Spot, and the Blue Kangaroo. Look at the books, a chance to see old favourites as well as the brilliant new books coming out each week.. Our stock ranges from baby books and first readers through to Twilight and other exciting teenage thrillers. We always keep an large selection of beautiful illustrated hardback editions of classic children's stories and fairy tales. So if you're looking for something special there are wonderful editions of Wind in the Willows, The Jungle Book, Alice in Wonderland and all the other classics.
World Book Day 2011
March 3rd 2011 is World Book Day and as usual we'll be helping Colchester's young book lovers celebrate. There' is a great range of special World Book Day books published again this year. These books can be exchanged for your WBD token distributed through the schools. We'll be teaming up with local school to take set up Book Fairs to make sure no one misses out on the chance to spend their free £1.00 World Book Day Token. If you are a teacher at a local school responsible for books and reading do get in touch to see if we may be able to help with a book fair for your school or indeed in any other way. We do run a book supply service for schools in and around Colchester. We can advise on you bok requirments, source, collate and deliver with a shools discount. Again, please call and ask for Sarah if you wish to discuss this service.
