Hilary Taylor Paintings and Steph Bonner Ceramics
Please come and have a look at our first Art Exhibition for 2012. Featured are paintings by Hilary Taylor and Ceramics by Steph Bonner. On Saturday, 28th January from 3 - 5 pm we will be holding a 'meet the artists' open afternoon from 3 - 5 pm. It is an opportunity to talk to the artists about the exhibition and their work over a glass of wine or a cup of tea.
Hilary Taylor is a localartist living in Rowhedge. She is a founder member of the 'Backyard Artists' group who have mounted summer exhibitions together for the last twenty years. In recent years she has turned to painting in pastels to express her love of landscapes and animals. Hilary says of her recent pictures, 'The farm animal theme has developed last year and I searched for cows, goats and pigs. The farm at Abberton has been an inspiration and here I found my humorous pygmy goat. I liked him so much that he features in my lastest painting along with the sunflowers in Fingringhoe.'
Steph Bonner was born in Tauranga, New Zealand and went to school in Johannesburg, South Africa. She completed a Fine Art degree at Cape Town University. After moving to London in 1974 she studied Ceramics with Mohammed Abdullah at the Camden Arts Centre. She currently teaches and works in her own studio exploring a variety of media and subjects. She talks about her work...'My ceramics are stronly influenced by natural shapes and forms, especially the relationship between birds and plants. My paintings are influenced by the bold patterns and shapes found in African art.'

About Us
Red Lion Books is Colchester’s friendly local independent bookshop. Welcome to our new improved online presence. We’ll try to make this website as useful as possible to help you find out what’s happening at the shop. We do realise that this website is currently just a teeny bit patchy, but don't worry we're working to fill it with interesting and exciting news and views about books and authors. We have thousands of books on our shelves - all carefully handpicked to represent the best of the thousand or more titles published each week backed up with a wide range of core stock titles.
Special Orders
If you can't find the book you need do ask and we'll do our best to track it down and order it in for you. At Red Lion Books we are permanently online with the fastest national book suppliers and can usually check availability of a requested book while you wait. Once ordered, we expect most books to arrive within a day or two. There are always some particularly specialist titles that may take longer but we can generally advise on this at time of ordering.
Imports
We have regular orders to our American suppliers and so can order individual titles from U.S publishers with a turnaround of just a couple of weeks. It is also possible to order books from European publishers, though delivery times can be considerably slower. Please ask and we will do our best to meet your special needs.
