Little Red Lion Children’s Bookshop
We have a large children’s section here and always welcome children to the shop. Climb aboard the Red Lion boat (or is it a train or a plane?). Or play with our much loved Percy Pig, Spot the Dog and Blue Kangaroo.
Come and see the fantastic range of books. You’ll find the best of old favourites as well as brilliant new books coming out each week. Our stock ranges from baby books and first readers right through to John Green’s ‘The Fault In Our Stars’ and other exciting teenage thrillers.
We always keep a large selection of beautiful illustrated hardback editions of classic children’s stories and fairy tales. So if you’re looking for something special there are wonderful editions of Wind in the Willows, The Jungle Book, Alice in Wonderland and all the other classics.
Children’s Book Groups
Get reading, get talking and get involved.
We have two children’s book groups meeting in the shop. One is for 8 – 12 yr olds (roughly) and one for teenagers reading and talking about Young Adult titles. Both groups meet monthly on Saturday afternoons. The emphasis is always on reading for enjoyment and sharing thoughts and ideas about books in a friendly, relaxed and supportive group. If you think you might like to come along then just ask in the shop for more details or pick up a leaflet about the next meeting.
Our teenage bookies will be discussing the wonderful classic fantasy, ‘A Wiizard of Earthsea’. Let us know if you would like to join the group – the only cost involved is buying the book!
Famous Visitors at Red Lion Books
This is our friend Horrid Henry when he visited the shop recently. This picture is of Henry showing off outside the shop. And when he wasn’t showing off he was really being rather horrid to the people passing by.
We’ve also had visits from the Gruffalo, Spot the Dog, Postman Pat and Where’s Wally.
Watch out for our special activity days when we have quizzes, treasure hunts and story telling in the shop.
We always have a selection of free bookmarks so you never need to lose your place in your book.
